This site is published by the Law Offices of Burg & Brock, a California personal injury firm, under the name UberLawyer.com. People usually land here after a crash, when they are trying to work out who pays for what and how long they have to act. That is the reason this page exists: so you can see who wrote what you are reading, who checked it, and what we will do if we get something wrong.

Who writes and who reviews

Our practice pages and guides are prepared by our content team and reviewed by an attorney licensed by the State Bar of California before they go up. Each of those pages carries the reviewing attorney's name, their role at the firm, and their Bar licence number, and that number links straight to their record on the State Bar's own site. You do not have to take our word for who reviewed a page. You can check the licence yourself in about ten seconds.

Blog posts carry the name of the attorney who authored them, with the same licence credit. Where a post is published by the firm rather than by one attorney, it says so.

What we base the content on

Where a page states a rule, a deadline or a dollar figure, it comes from the California Vehicle Code, the Insurance Code, the Code of Civil Procedure, a published California court decision, or the insurance terms the rideshare companies publish themselves, which we explain in plain terms on our Uber accident and Lyft accident pages. Crash and injury statistics come from the agencies that collect them, such as the California Highway Patrol, Caltrans and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

When a figure matters to a decision you might make, we name where it came from. If we cannot source a number, we leave it out rather than round it into something that reads well.

What we will not publish

We do not publish a settlement figure or a case outcome as a prediction of what your case is worth. California's Rules of Professional Conduct do not allow it, as our disclaimer sets out and it would be dishonest anyway, because two crashes that look alike on paper rarely resolve the same way.

We do not publish client names, case details or photographs without written permission, and we do not collect personal information beyond what our privacy policy describes. We do not run reviews or testimonials that were bought, incentivised or written by anyone at the firm. We do not accept payment to place a company, a product or another law firm in our content.

Keeping pages current

California rideshare and insurance law moves. Coverage minimums change, courts decide questions that were open, and the platforms rewrite their own terms. When a change affects what a page tells you, we update the page rather than leave it standing. Pages are also reviewed when we revise them for any other reason, and the review credit on the page shows who last signed off.

Software and drafting tools

We use software in our work, including tools that help with research, drafting and proofreading. Nothing reaches this site on that basis alone. A licensed attorney reads and approves the legal substance of a page before it is published, and that attorney is the one named on it. Each of them is listed, with their licence number, on our team page.

Advertising

This website is attorney advertising under California's Rules of Professional Conduct. We do not sell advertising space on it, and no outside party pays to influence what appears here. The firm pays for the site and is responsible for its content. The full advertising notice is in our disclaimer.

Corrections

If something on this site is wrong, tell us and we will fix it. Write to [email protected] with the page address and what you believe is incorrect. We check it against the source, correct the page if the point stands, and note on the page that it was corrected and when. If the point does not stand, we will tell you why.

What this page is not

Nothing on this site is legal advice, and reading it does not make us your lawyers. An attorney-client relationship starts only when we and you sign an agreement that says so. If you want your own situation looked at, the consultation is free and there is no obligation.
