The violent crash in North Hollywood killed 1 man and injured 3 others including a 10-month-old infant

KTLA — One person has died and three others, including an infant, were injured Sunday night after a violent two-car crash caused a vehicle to overturn, trapping two victims inside the wreckage.

Crews with the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene, located at 11482 West Magnolia Boulevard, just after 7 p.m. in North Hollywood.

A preliminary investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department revealed that a female driver in a gray sedan traveling northbound on the 170 Freeway exited at Magnolia Boulevard and ran a red light, striking a dark-colored Honda CRV carrying three people, including a 10-month-old infant.

The force of the collision caused the Honda to overturn, LAPD Detective Lisset Fuentes said.

Crews with the Los Angeles Fire Department worked to free a 35-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man from the wreckage of the CRV, authorities said.

Det. Fuentes confirmed that the male passenger in the CRV died, though it is unclear if he was declared deceased at the scene or died from his injuries at the hospital.

The female in the CRV was taken to the hospital and was reported to be in critical condition. The infant, who was not trapped in the vehicle, was pulled out and taken to the hospital where it is said to be in stable condition and is expected to survive.

The female driver of the gray sedan who ran the red light was also taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
